Solgar's common oregano oil capsules contain oregano oil extracted from the leaves of this plant without the use of solvents and is standardized to contain a minimum of 70% carvacrol and a maximum of 6% thymol. Common oregano is richer in essential oils than other species of this plant.

WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF OREGANO IN SOLGAR OIL?

Oil of oregano is traditionally used to improve digestion, respiratory and immune function, and for its antioxidant properties.
It contains phenolic compounds, carvacrol and thymol, which researchers believe are responsible for oregano's beneficial properties. Carvacrol and thymol have been found to inhibit the growth of various bacteria and fungi, and may be helpful in maintaining a proper balance of intestinal microflora and proper digestion.
Oregano has strong antioxidant properties, due to the synergistic action of phenolic compounds, particularly rosemary acid, which is also responsible for rosemary's antioxidant properties.
Other natural components of oregano oil include triterpenoids such as oleanolic acid, as well as sterols, beta-carotene and vitamin C.
