For best results, brushing the body should be done in the direction of the heart. However, it is important to remember not to press the body too hard, as this can cause skin irritation. After brushing the body with oil or lotion, the skin should be gently dried with a towel. At the very end, it is a good idea to apply a moisturizer to the skin.
Dry body brushing can be done daily or several times a week. However, brushing should not be done more than once a day. Beginners should start body brushing with a gentle massage. Over time, the unpleasant sensation occurring during brushing will disappear.
It is a good idea to divide body brushing into stages. Brushing each part of the body should take from 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the level of sophistication. However, no longer than 15 minutes.
If we do dry brushing, it basically doesn't matter whether we do the brushing in the morning or in the evening. If we choose to brush in the morning, it will stimulate our circulation and give us strength and energy for the day. Brushing the body in the evening, on the other hand, induces a state of relaxation and improves the quality of sleep.
Dry brushing should be abandoned by those dealing with psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or acne. Wounds, burns or nevi should also not be brushed.
