Does chromium help maintain normal blood glucose levels?

Chromium is a mineral that plays a beneficial role in regulating the action of insulin and its effect on carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism. Insulin, in turn, is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas and regulates blood glucose levels.

Does the form of chromium matter for glucose regulation?

In the human body, chromium levels decline with age. Studies show that supplements containing 200-1000 mcg of chromium in the form of chromium picolinate daily improve blood glucose control. Studies also show that the most effective form is chromium picolinate1. This is what we used in Terranova's product.

How does Chromium 200 µg differ from other dietary supplements?

Sources of minerals, including chromium, are various plant ingredients available in our diet. Cocoa, pumpkin, rice bran barley and nettle can naturally contain it. In an effort to get as close to nature as possible, Terranova freeze-dries these fresh ingredients right after harvest, while not further processing them (so it doesn't standardize these ingredients into specific substances either). A daily serving of our dietary supplement contains 200 µg of chromium and 5 plant ingredients.
