Dietary supplement Vitamin B6 P-5-P + Pyridoxine is a capsule formulation containing vitamin B6 in two forms: pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P) and pyridoxine. Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble substance called pyridoxine.

Vitamin B6 pyridoxine:
  • Helps maintain normal psychological functions.
  • Supports the normal functioning of the immune system.
  • Reduces feelings of fatigue and tiredness.
  • Contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, being an essential cofactor in fatty acid metabolism.
  • Supports the proper synthesis of cysteine.
  • Assists in the normal production of red blood cells.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal energy metabolism.
  • Supports the proper functioning of the nervous system.
  • Helps maintain normal homocysteine metabolism.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal protein and glycogen metabolism.
The most biologically active form of vitamin B6 is pyridoxal 5-phosphate. It is a coenzyme for more than 100 enzymes responsible for the work of the entire body, making B6 one of the most "hardworking" B vitamins. Vitamin B6 is involved in the metabolism of amino acids, and has an invaluable role in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and GABA, and in the metabolism of liver enzymes (AST, ALT). Vitamin B6 also contributes to the production of other vitamins, such as niacin from tryptophan.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES THE PYRIDOXAL 5-PHOSPHATE FORM?

Pyridoxal 5-phosphate, or P-5-P, is the active form of vitamin B6. The difference between regular pyridoxine and P-5-P is that P-5-P does not need to undergo any more transformations, it is the target form of vitamin B6.

Pyridoxal 5-phosphate acts as a coenzyme or prosthetic group. It is key to the function of many enzymes responsible for amino acid metabolism (aminotransferases and decarboxylases).

IS VITAMIN B6 REALLY ESSENTIAL FOR THE BODY?

Vitamin B6 is a coenzyme for more than 100 enzymes responsible for the work of the entire body, making it one of the most essential B vitamins. It is involved in amino acid and homocysteine metabolism, glucose and lipid metabolism, neurotransmitter production and DNA/RNA synthesis. It has also been attributed a role as a modulator of genetic expression.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN B6 DEFICIENCY?

Vitamin B6 deficiencies are associated with nervous system dysfunction. This is especially true in the elderly population, who may experience cognitive impairment and also have vascular and circulatory disease.

WHAT IS VITAMIN B6 SOLUBLE IN?

Vitamin B6, like all B vitamins, belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins.
