In The Book of a Thousand and One Nights, there is this wonderful expression addressing a loved one: to say "the soul of my soul," meaning the emptiness of a life without love. I remember Aladdin's warm voice - crackling from the turntable at 45 rpm - speaking to Badroulboudour. He calls her "my princess, the soul of my soul." I was 7 years old at the time and asked my mother about the meaning of soul. She replied: "There is no single definition.
