Dietary supplement Zinc Complex Powder is a preparation containing 569 servings of zinc in the form of organic compounds: zinc picolinate, zinc gluconate and zinc citrate. Zinc is a mineral. It is a so-called "essential trace element" because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health. It is involved in hundreds of transformations that take place in the human body. The human body does not accumulate excess zinc, it must be supplied regularly with the diet. Zinc has antioxidant properties, which means that it helps protect the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can contribute to the aging process, including heart disease and cancer. Zinc is involved in more than 300 enzyme reactions. This includes protein and carbohydrate metabolism, RNA / DNA synthesis - and therefore cell replication, body regeneration, as well as intercellular signaling. The production of digestive enzymes, antioxidation, and even methylation itself - also depend to some extent on the saturation of the body with zinc!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INORGANIC AND ORGANIC FORMS OF ZINC?
Zinc is commercially available in many forms. The compound with which zinc is present affects its bioavailability and absorption capabilities.
Zinc absorption occurs in the intestine with the help of a dedicated ZIP protein, which allows it to penetrate into the cells of enterocytes.

HOW MUCH ZINC IS IN ZINC?
Our body's requirement is for zinc cations (Zn2+), not for the entire compound in which this element is found in a product (such as zinc citrate). For zinc to be absorbed in the body, its salt must first dissolve and release Zn2+ cations (the so-called free form). In summary, the more the salt dissolves, the more zinc will be absorbed.
Mineral compounds as well as zinc compounds vary in molar mass and percentage of zinc (as Zn2 ions), for example:

- Zinc citrate, contains on average between 31 -34% zinc ions, that is, in 1 gram of zinc citrate we have 310-340 mg of Zn2.
- Zinc picolinate, on average, contains between 20-21% of zinc ions, that is, in 1 gram of zinc picolinate we have 200-210 mg Zn2.
- Zinc gluconate contains an average of about 14% zinc ions, that is, in 1 gram of zinc gluconate we have 140 mg Zn2.
WHAT CAN ZINC DEFICIENCY RESULT IN?
Zinc deficiency can result in:
- appetite disorders
- attempts to eat inedible food (Pica syndrome) in children and adults
- hair loss
- disorders of protein digestion already at the level of the stomach
- severe disorders of the methylation cycle processes (zinc conditions the use of vitamins B6, B9 and B12 to reduce levels of pro-inflammatory homocysteine)
- low stature
- characteristic, especially nowadays, of a reduced ability to taste food
WHAT SHOULD ZINC NOT BE COMBINED WITH?
Zinc should not be combined with high blood pressure medications, corticosteroids, tetracyclines, NSAIDs - ibuprofen, paracetamol. Also remember that zinc should be supplemented in a time interval from other minerals. Long-term intake of supplements rich in iron dosage can impair zinc absorption.
