WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VITAMIN D2, AND D3?

Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is formed in fungi due to the transformation of ergosterol under UV light. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is formed in animals (including humans) due to the metabolism of 7-dehydrocholesterol under UV light. Both vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) are capable of converting to calcifediol (25(OH)D3), but it is vitamin D3 that is much more effective in this case. Cholecalciferol induces faster production of calcifediol and persists longer and in higher concentrations than ergocalciferol. Therefore, cholecalciferol is used in dietary supplements.

WHAT CAN IMPAIR THE BODY'S ABILITY TO ABSORB AND ASSIMILATE VITAMIN D?

Any dysfunction in liver function will significantly reduce the body's ability to absorb and assimilate and appropriately activate vitamin D. In people with encephalopathy or severe intestinal problems, effectively raising vitamin D levels can be a time-consuming process. The two-step activation of vitamin D requires the presence of magnesium in the body. This mineral must be available in adequate amounts, and supplementation is not always necessary, but in pregnant women, people performing intense physical exertion as a job or hobby, as well as those with high emotional stress, those who cannot cope with stress, and people struggling with neurological problems - magnesium levels may need regular supplementation.

DESPITE VITAMIN D3 SUPPLEMENTATION, LEVELS IN THE 25(OH)D3 TEST DO NOT RISE. WHY.

Dietary supplements use cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). This is the same compound that the human body synthesizes on its own when exposed to sunlight. Cholecalciferol is further converted by the body sequentially into calcifediol and then calcitriol. The most common test performed to "measure vitamin D levels" is actually to measure the concentration of calcifediol, another name for which is 25(OH)D3. Calcifediol is a metabolite, i.e. a product of the metabolic transformation of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), which takes place in the liver under the influence of the hydroxylation process. Therefore, if, despite supplementation with an adequate dose of vitamin D3, the level of 25(OH)D3 does not rise, this may indicate problems of hepatic origin and the fact that the liver is unable to carry out hydroxylation on its own despite the available supply of cholecalciferol. If this is the case, seek medical advice.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT VITAMIN D3 AND K2MK7 ARE PATENTED?

The vitamin D we use in our supplements is a patented vitamin that functions under the name Quali®-D. The ingredient has been patented by the Swiss company DSM Nutritional Products AG. Quali®-D is a natural source of vitamin D3, extracted from lanolin (from sheep's wool). Vitamin K2MK7 VitaMK7® is patented by the French company Gnosis. The patented raw materials are ingredients that have clinical studies proving the effectiveness of the substance.

  • Microbiology, presence of: listeria, staphylococcus, escherichia coli and coliform group, salmonella, mold, yeast, total number of microorganisms,
  • heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury),
  • ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol,
  • gluten content.
The tests were carried out at the independent, accredited J.S. Hamilton Poland Laboratory - Accreditation Certificates no: AB 1552, AC 155, AC 149, AB 079.

The product is recommended for adults. 4000 IU (100 µg) for dietary supplements intended only for healthy individuals over 75 years of age. The product should not be consumed by people taking anticoagulants containing vitamin K antagonists (e.g. warfarin and acenocoumarol).
Warning: Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using the product. Before use, it is advisable to test 25-(OH)D in the blood and consult the test result with your doctor or pharmacist. Keep out of the reach of small children.

Storage: Vitamin D3 + K2MK7 dietary supplement should be stored in a sunny place, at a temperature below 25°C, in the original packaging out of the reach of small children.
